• Question: is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable and a fruit?

      Technically, the way to tell a fruit, is if it has seeds on the inside (generally speaking!).

      So, a tomato is a fruit! Although I wouldn’t want to put it in my fruit salad, would you?!

      This means that things like cucumbers are also fruits, and strawberries are actually NOT really a fruit, because they have their seeds on the outside!

    This still blows my mind (and I went to university to study plant science!). How can a fruit be a vegetable. It LITERALLY makes no sense! I feel like I’ve been lied to my whole life 🤔🤣

    Well, Mark explained the scientific technicality fairly well but when asked about this to daily consumers the consensus seems to be fruits are the ones eaten raw and vegetables are to be cooked. So maybe popular cultural belief makes it more of a vegetable than a fruit.
