      That when grassland soils are damaged it can result in a lot of flooding because rainwater flows over the surface of the land rather than being absorbed by it; and that if we change the management of the grassland by timing when we have animals and heavy machinery on the land a bit better, we can reduce the risk of local flooding; and not by a little bit, it reduces the risk a lot. We’ve converted these research findings into advice to farmers and are now working with farmers to work out how we can manage the land better for all sorts of benefits.
