Hi there, great question. Generally, I think I was inspired to become a scientist at school by an amazing chemistry teacher. While I was always interested in food and how it is produced it is only in the past few years that I knew that was the area I wanted to work in and it is only in the last year that I have started to work with some of the brilliant people I work with now on food systems in cities. I really wanted to work in this area as how we consume food in cities is going to drive the future of our food systems. By 2050 the world population is expected to increase by 1/3 from what it was in 2009, and around 2/3 of people will live in cities.

Great question – Its not something I do, but I’m so glad that other scientists are looking in it cos we need to take better care of our world! 🌍👊
