Getting to eat it! Also finding a good scientific reason for the fact that we should drink chocolate milk after we exercise. I’d have drunk it anyway, but now I know there’s a legit reason for it 🙂
My favourite thing about studying food, is that I’m looking at something that is important to every one of us. Fish are a really important food source for people around the world – in fact fish account for 17% of the global population’s intake of animal protein! I’m trying to help come up with ways to show what fish are more environmentally friendly options to eat, and how we can make more harmful ways of fishing better for the environment. We need to make sure that we don’t take too many fish so that they can’t breed and keep growing more fish for future populations, but we need to take enough so that we can feed people, and so that fishermen can make enough money to keep their jobs – it’s interesting weighing up these different things!
Favorite thing is getting to eat food and meeting unknown people. Eating food with my study’s participants, cooking and growing food with them, talking about food and helping them connect with others who grow food in cities.
