Hi there, in total I have been a University student for 7 years (although for the last 3 years I was paid a scholarship to do the PhD). The best time I had at University was as a Masters student, by this point I understood what a privilege it was.
I added this up the other day. I’m (almost!) ashamed to say about 10+ years in total! But as part of this I did my masters (a second degree after you’ve done your first one) in New Zealand for 2 years – it was AWESOME 🙂 You usually do a bachelors (your first degree) in 3 years (4 in Scotland). A masters can take 1 or 2. And a PhD (where you research into something noones ever looked at) in 3 or 4. But if you want to be a scientist you can just do a bachelors. Sometimes you don’t even need that – might be worth asking your careers officer if you have one.
I’m going to get in trouble at home if I go back to university to study again, but there’s so much I want to know!!! Be careful – it can get addictive! 🙂
