      Hi!
I did a science degree for 3 years, then a PhD for 4 years, and I’ve been a “proper” scientist for 2.5 years.
My biology teacher inspired me, by being enthusiastic and motivating me to keep doing what I loved about science. Also, the cool microbes that cause hideous diseases are pretty inspirational!

This makes me feel old! I’ve been working in science since I started university almost 20 years ago…. I did a science degree for 3 years, then a masters degree for 2 years in New Zealand. Then I did a PhD for 5 years….. Since then I’ve been working in a few different things. I decided I’d had enough of science and went to work in a gym for a few years where I taught swimming and took spinning classes and stuff like that. And I’ve been a sports nutritionist for about the last 5 years or so…..

As for what inspired me, I had an amazing biology teacher at school. But the reason I love science is that I get to find things out. I’ve always loved learning new stuff, and in science I get to do that!

Not sure I’ll ever reach the status of “proper” scientist that Mark’s talking about 😉
