I’m not a nutritionist – Ali might be able to answer this question better – but eating oily fish is good for you! The NHS recommends eating at least 2 portions of fish a week, including one oily fish. The phrase ‘oily fish’ can be a bit confusing, as it might sound like its ‘fatty’ and bad for you – but ‘oily fish’ have lots of omega-3 in them, which is good for us!
Fish is good for you because it has some special fats in it called omega 3s. They can help you not get heart disease and they’re a good source of Vitamin D. Heart disease is probably something you’re not thinking about now (I for one thought I was immortal as a kid!) but definitely something you need to consider! Cod isn’t an oily fish, but tuna and salmon are. Having 2 portions of oily fish a week is good for you. So keep it up [*insert virtual high 5 here].
