As for my favourite, I love disability sports. All the recommendations we have in sports nutrition are based on able-bodied athletes. So we don’t really know what a disabled athlete will need. We have to guess based on the information we have. And you have to take each athlete individually – one amputee will have a different amount of muscle, scar tissue etc from another amputee. And you have to think about things a lot more – e.g. how does a visually impaired athlete know if they’re opening a tin of sweet corn or one of peaches? I love the creativity you get with disabled sports.
